GVB Biopharma is a story of friendship, dedication to exacting principles, and swift success. Founded in the fertile farm country of central Oregon in 2016 by three best friends who have known one another since high school, GVB has grown rapidly into a leading technology-driven hemp solutions provider. Our carefully selected team of 100 employees includes top chemists, engineers, doctors, and biologists paired with talented operators and a robust sales and marketing team. A strong sense of pride runs through the company as we share our mission to create the highest-quality hemp cannabinoid products possible.

Leadership


Phil has managed GVB’s farming and manufacturing operations since the company’s inception. Through hands-on experience and a commitment to innovation, he has become an international expert in the field of CBD extraction and scaled CBD production. Phil is a graduate of Colby College in Maine with a BA degree in economics.


Jack became interested in the emerging industry of legal cannabidiol after graduating from the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business with a BS in finance in 2016. While serving in various finance roles at Fisher Investments, he conducted extensive research on equipment and methods of CBD extraction. This led to the initial business plan for GVB Biopharma, which he co-founded in 2017.


Drew is an accomplished entrepreneur with a proven track of success. While attending Indiana University he co-founded the successful boutique social media marketing firm Loudley. Loudley’s clients included Live Nation—a Fortune 500 events promoter—and Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com. Using his marketing business as a platform, Drew began focusing on e-commerce, and pioneered the free-plus-shipping-business model in a number of consumer markets. He joined GVB in 2018.
While attending Chapman University, Sebastian co-founded an online marketplace for students to buy and sell items & exchange services. He then moved on to join Eekoh, a start-up news aggregation platform utilizing artificial intelligence. From there, Sebastian joined the founding team of Trendy Butler, a men’s subscription clothing platform based around machine learning to automate style picking. After two years at Trendy Butler, Sebastian left to found his digital marketing agency Loudley. Loudley’s clients included Live Nation, Electric Family, and Chinese E-Commerce giant JD.com, Sebastian joined GVB in 2019.


Hugh has extensive experience as a senior executive in roles ranging from acting CFO of a publicly-traded battery manufacturer with operations in the U.S., Switzerland, and Italy to the CFO of West World Media, a private data aggregation company that was recently acquired for $60MM. Hugh began his career at GE Capital in their Structured Finance Group, where he oversaw over a billion dollars in infrastructure, energy, and communications investments. Hugh earned his B.S. in Finance from Penn State University and his MBA from Cornell University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.


Jonathan Staffeldt is a seasoned attorney with a diverse professional background well suited for his role as Chief Legal Officer. After graduating from the University of Southern California with a degree in accounting, he decided to continue his education with a law degree from UCLA. Jonathan began his professional career as a corporate attorney working on a variety of transactional matters including mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations, and debt and equity financings. Later, he practiced at a boutique litigation firm representing clients in complex civil matters. Jonathan then moved in-house as assistant general counsel at a medical company prior to joining GVB in 2019.


A creative, enthusiastic and high achieving senior level executive with over 40 years of outstanding manufacturing experience based on a solid formal education consisting of a BSME and an MBA. Mr. Maggay spent (12) years combined active and reserve duty as a U.S. Naval Officer
He then spent (20) years in various plant and corporate positions ranging from first line supervisor (in a plant environment) to Corporate Vice President. in his last position as an employee he was responsible for (5) processing facilities, with 2,000+ employees and annual sales of 3/4 of a billion dollars.
For the next (20) years he founded and operated a company that provided services to manufacturing companies that included engineering, construction, operations management, regulatory compliance, machine shop services and continuous process improvements.
Most recently he has spent 2 years completing capital engineering projects for a Land O Lakes cheese plant, 2 years as plant manager for a supplement manufacturing company and now provides engineering support to GVB Biopharma in obtaining their company goals.


John Eberhard brings with him more than 25 years of sales and operational experience working for the largest Institutional blown film manufacturer and mineral additives companies in the USA. In his early career in plastic film; John worked his way from Sales Associate to General Manager of the Western region with a total of $60+ million in sales. John transitioned back into Sales Management working for the largest mineral additives company in the USA servicing the plastics industry. In this role, John managed numerous fortune 150 OEM’s and converters with over 50+ million in sales responsibility. John is married to his wife Carrie and enjoys fly fishing in the northwest. John joined GVB in 2020.


Before coming to GVB Biopharma, Sunny worked as a large-scale event coordinator in the U.S. and internationally. She then moved into production as a producer for TV and commercials in Los Angeles, CA. Working with many departments overseeing schedules and putting efficiency procedures in place to improve communication and success between departments. She graduated with a double major in Business and Communications from the University Of Colorado Boulder. She joined GVB Biopharma in 2019.
Keith Manley began his career in the capital markets division at Wells Fargo. Keith spent 17 years as an institutional bond salesman and later as a top-producing institutional equity salesman/SVP at Wedbush covering some of the globe’s largest hedge funds and money managers. In 2011, Keith co-founded Arc9, a digital asset management/project management software platform, one of the first platforms to render CG on the cloud. After exiting Arc9, Keith has spent the last 7 years as a top producing SaaS enterprise sales director and sales manager at Xant/InsideSales, Lucid Software and Freshlime until joining GVB in 2021.
Luke DeNuccio is a young entrepreneur who, prior to GVB, worked in the software and consulting industry for 6+ years. After building a successful commercial sales team, his work expanded into consulting for the world’s top SI’s: IBM, Deloitte, PwC, Accenture, Optum, and Capgemini. Luke’s commercial sales build-out and top-line consulting played an integral role in a successful acquisition of Spigit by the #1 leading project management organization, Planview. Amidst this acquisition success, Luke started his own consulting firm, Luca Ventures, geared toward corporate infrastructure, efficiency, and new market consulting. This led him to GVB in 2019.


Wing brings more than 15 years of process safety and technical marketing experience from the oil and gas industry. He began his career as a Risk Management Consultant and transitioned to a Principal Process Safety Engineer for a leading global resources company. Utilizing his experience in Data Science, he manages and analyzes data to optimize production in a safe environment. Wing received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah and an MBA from the University of Texas McCombs School of Business. Wing joined GVB in 2019.


Michael brings over 30 years of GMP quality and compliance experience from the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. He started his career at a pharmaceutical CMO working in the analytical lab and grew with the company, taking on progressive quality control and quality assurance roles. Leveraging the skills acquired in GMP laboratory and manufacturing quality operations, he directed the implementation of quality systems to meet Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 11, 111, 211, 312, 320, 820, International Council for Harmonization and ISO 9001:2015 standards. Michael has hosted and achieved numerous successful FDA inspections. Michael received his BS in Chemistry and Computer Science Application from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Michael joined GVB in 2022.


After graduating from Kakatiya University, India with a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Bharath moved to the United States to continue his education and received a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from Lamar University. Bharath started his career as a technician and worked his way up at Inspectorate America Corporation. After two years, he moved on to join Insys Therapeutics, a pharmaceutical company specialized in manufacturing Synthetic CBD and Δ9-THC. Insys’ main product was Subsys, used to relieve peaks of pain in cancer patients. Bharath, having an inborn quantitative aptitude & determined to carve a successful and satisfying career in the industry, joined GVB in 2019. He is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.


After graduating from Northwestern University, Lindsay began her professional career in internal communications for a large american trade association. She then found success in the non-profit space, specializing in building infrastructure and driving revenue through multi-channel branding campaigns. Lindsay’s visual arts background led her to begin focusing more on content marketing and brand development. She has since leveraged content to expand marketing channels and campaigns for multiple organizations, resulting in increased engagement, donations, and sales. Lindsay joined GVB Biopharma in 2019.


Gabi has dedicated her career to supporting and developing internal business operations for several startup companies in multiple industries. Gabi was born and raised in Havana, Cuba where she attended the Superior Institute of Design. After relocating to the US in 2013, she pursued a career in the Art Industry and worked as a Gallery Manager in a boutique Latin American Art Gallery where she oversaw all planning, preparation, and maintenance of exhibits and gallery operations as well as client relationships within the US and International market. Having found a passion for Business Management and Administration, she later joined one of her best friends to help him build his startup car dealership from the ground up, growing the business from one to two locations within a year’s time by automating all internal processes and handling all employee relationships and managerial responsibilities. Gabi joined GVB Biopharma in 2019.
Advisory Board
Ted Swindells brings more than 30 years of experience acquiring, investing in, building, financing, and advising companies across a broad range of industries. He has been a principal in his own firms and a partner in various venture capital, investment banking, and merchant banking firms in New York, San Francisco, and London. His specialty is financing and developing growth companies across a range of sectors, including agriculture, natural resources, energy, technology, and telecommunications. He has held senior venture capital positions with Drexel Burnham Lambert, RubiconVentures, Hambrecht & Quist, and Woodman Kirkpatrick & Gilbreath.
Ed Mooney has more than 25 years of experience in all facets of corporate development, governance, and compliance for publicly traded companies and privately held ventures and investments. His background spans corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, investor relations, and regulatory compliance. He is currently a Director and Chief Administrative Officer for a private company developing telecommunications projects in Mexico and the Caribbean. He is an advisor to a California firm developing advanced AI-based personality mapping technology for use by marketers. He also is a managing member of investment entities in the agricultural, finance, and consumer product categories.
